We ran tried-and-true events that again brought success: the garden charity show in February, a stall at The Pet Expo followed by the mid-year dinner that stretched over two nights. Kylie Bullo, TOP’s Conservation Fund Manager, gave a heart-warming presentation on both nights, which brought a few tears when orangutan-cruelty was obvious. The reality of their plight only raised our determination to work harder. Our stall at The Royal Show over nine days was covered by volunteers, some of whom worked in excess of 20 shifts. We had a sponsorship of $400 from Golden North Icecream, which is palm oil free, and they also generously donated 50 vouchers for Show Bags. The year ended with a 2-day stall at The Veganfest on a beautiful summery weekend that brought out the crowds. We are planning a similar year in 2017 starting with a garden charity sale (see the Events page for details)! School visits and more public talks are also on the agenda.
