The 5th Annual Quiz Night was held on 5th September and was another huge success, raising over $7,000. Every year more and more people get into the fun of the night and come dressed in crazy orang-utan outfits. Our wonderful supporters at Bonorong always come in force and it’s hard not to give them best dressed every year. Congratulations to Petra Harris on winning best dressed female and John Chung as best dressed male, they were outstanding. Thank you so much to all our return donors, there are so many of them, we so very much appreciate your ongoing generosity and a big thank you to everyone else who donated prizes, their time in helping set up and pack up, to all who attended and spent money, and to our wonderful Quizmaster, David Walch, for another great quiz.

Sadly we lost a very dear friend and great orangutan supporter recently, Lavinia Pike at only 36 years of age. Lavinia loved the orangutans and was my first merchandise customer when I took over as TOP Rep. A great animal lover, she is and will continue to be very sorely missed.

Our wonderful volunteer Rebecca Edwards is sadly moving to the mainland and will be a great loss to the Tassie orangutan cause. I will personally miss her at our stalls and am so appreciative of all the time and effort given to the cause and also for her generous financial support too. A second hand stall was held at Kingston selling most of Rebecca’s gear, the proceeds of which she donated to the orangutans.

The Spring Fair at the Botanical Gardens was held over the 10th and 11th of October to glorious weather. Thanks to Tina and Rebecca for your efforts over both days in helping raise awareness and around $900 in sales. Thank you also to the Botanical Gardens management for always inviting us to participate at no charge.

Our next merchandise stall will be at Salamanca Markets on 19th December.
