Manage donation boxes

Donation boxes are a great way to collect donations in your community. Collect funds with very little effort! There are some simple steps to approaching local shops, cafes and venues. 

Steps to raising funds through donation boxes:

  1. Order donation boxes and business cards via the Merchandise Order Form
  2. Stick your own name and contact number on the base of the box in case the shop needs to call you
  3. Research your local area to identify shops, cafes, post offices, chemists etc that might be able to take a donation box
  4. Read our Tips to Managing Donation Boxes which has guidelines on how to approach shops and staff 
  5. Go into the shops and venues and be courteous and friendly - keep asking at different even if you get a lot of 'no thanks' responses
  6. Keep a record of the venues that take a donation box
  7. Visit the shop monthly or every two months to ensure it doesn't become too full
  8. Let the staff in the shop know how these funds have impacted our work (ask the VFM if you need info)
