OVERVIEW
There really is nothing like giving back. That's right, in this specially crafted expedition you will visit the habitats of humanities closest relative, the Orangutan.
We have cleverly combined both a relaxing wildlife "observation" trip with an expedition into the heart of Borneo that also incorporates visiting the Research Centres for Orangutans, Gibbons and or species. We will cruise up the Rungan River in luxury and sleep in a traditional Dayak Longhouse in Malahoi. This Fundraising Expedition will not only provide funds for CIMTROP and OUTROP, but we will have access to their researchers, who will impart their immense knowledge of the environment, threats to the ecosystem and what we can do to help.
This expedition will give you an amazing insight into life in Borneo for both humans and Orangutans. This is a great trip for people of all ages and a great trip to be part of. If you are interested in adventure and giving back to the world at the same time, then you have got to be part of this expedition.

A TRIP TO A WONDERLAND: By Susie

I have been very fortunate in the past to have sailed around the world and slipped into many an exotic harbour and remote atoll across the seas, but our journey to Borneo was a stand-alone experience of a lifetime.
From the moment we stepped onto Indonesian soil and began our journey klotoking our way up stream, catching sight of Orangutans lounging in their nests amongst the treetops or foraging for palm fruits on the river’s edge, I was in awe. Every day became better than the last as we moved deep into the jungle to the feeding stations to stand and gape at these most fascinating beings, so like ourselves.
Being surrounded at Camp Leakey by wild orangutans as they came though the treetops as if walking on air. And then came Tom, the King of the jungle, huge and imposing, his presence created havoc as the other males rushed in fear to get out of his domain. It was nature in the raw.
But, then the reality hit as we were shown around the OFI care centre and saw with great sadness the cages full of little faces with hands outstretched through the bars all vying for special attention perhaps a new mother. We observed the young ones in the jungle as they learned to climb trees and associate with their natural habitat in the hopes that one-day they would roam wild and free again. This is where I met Krista, a cheeky and adorable child who tried to chew the beads of my bangle, I have now adopted her and will follow her progress enthusiastically in the hopes that my tiny contribution can help get her back to where she belongs.
