VOLUNTARY Queensland State Representative

(approx 5-10 hours / week)

The Orangutan Project is a voluntary organisation that supports Orangutan conservation organisations in raising funds and awareness for Orangutan conservation.  Orangutans are in a crisis situation with extinction in the wild predicted within 10 years by many experts.

We invite applications for the position of QLD State Representative.  An enthusiastic, self motivated person is sought to organise and manage fundraising and awareness-raising events.
 
Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Become a Registered supporter of TOP

- Building a team to share responsibilities and tasks and coordinate fund raising activities.  Activities could include:  shopping centre displays;  fetes;  expos;  chocolate fundraising;  film nights;  trivia nights. Membership and Adoption programs within the State. Goals are set each year for these categories and the State Representative is expected to work towards these goals.

- Communication with volunteer members to promote and coordinate their activities and events and be responsible for all state matters.

- Be available to answer emails within 48 hours.

- Prepare a business/budget plan each year so the State team and National Coordinator are fully aware of the states plans and the National Committee are advised.

- Write articles for the quarterly Newsletter

- Attend State Representative teleconference meetings (2 per year)

- Liaise with Merchandise Coordinator for merchandise stock supplies

- Monthly stock counts

- Store all merchandise stock at a safe location, includes display materials 

- Liaise with Adoption Coordinator for Adoption Kit supplies

- Liaise with Bookkeeper and Administrator re banking and orders. Each event requires a banking advice to be submitted

- Attend to all Queensland phone queries.

- To be prepared to download the Skype system on to their computer so regular communication can be maintained at no cost to the TOP or Representative.

- Train a backup State Coordinator to cover during State Coordinator holidays and to become an acting replacement if required.

Reporting Relationships: Reporting to the National Coordinator Bill Waterer.
Skills and Aptitudes:

o Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
o Good organisational skills
o PC and internet access
o Email and computer skills
o Basic understanding of software/program
o Good communication skills

     
The initial appointment is for a three month probationary period to ensure both the TOP and the Appointee are happy with the appointment.
