Update 2012:
Krista is one of the sweetest orangutans at the care center. Her hair is very shiny and longer than many of her friends. Although she is already a juvenile, she still needs the comfort of holding onto someone, especially on the way to the forest. She rarely leaves the ground to climb trees but has been working on her confidence by lifting her feet off the ground when she finds a low branch to swing from. Krista loves being carried to the forest. She picks up her feet and stretches her legs out in front of her for the journey. She loves to organize and make piles of leaves and sticks that she has found in the forest. Once she is satisfied with her piles, she mixes everything up and starts over again.
On the way back from the forest, Krista loves to get a ride on her caregiver's back. This way she can concentrate on finding young leaves to eat instead of looking where she is walking. Krista still has many forest skills to learn but is making improvements every day.
