OFI Field Volunteer Program - in Southern Kalimantan, Borneo

The Orangutan Foundation International (OFI) and the Orangutan Foundation UK run a field volunteer program in Kalimantan Tengah. The Volunteer Program invites citizens from around the world who will help in orangutan conservation by assisting in the improvement of the infrastructure of Tanjung Puting National Park and surrounding reserve areas.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, in good health and boast above average fitness. Previous experience in the field is desirable but not necessary, although individuals who have completed the 11-day Study Tour, the Red Ape Challenge, or an Earthwatch expedition will be given special consideration as will individuals who have experience in construction. Volunteers will be required to pay for their own travel costs as well as funding themselves while they are in the field ($100/weeks). Teams, comprising a maximum of 12, will spend a minimum of six weeks in the field with the option of an extension following evaluation and visa renewal.
