Our Goals and Strengths1. We are a non-partisan organization that supports all orangutan conservation organizations. Being non-partisan we can distribute our funds due to conservation needs only. Also we use our ability to support all organizations as a way of bringing orangutan conservation organisations together.
2. Leif Cocks, AOP's president, is part of orangutan scientific working groups (his academic qualifications are in orangutan conservation, as with several other members), Leif Cocks is involved in producing conservation action plans for orang utans. For example the Orangutan Conservation and Reintroduction Workshop in Palangka Raya, Kalimantan, June 2002 and the Population Habitat Viability (PHVA) Workshop in 2003, which were conducted under the Conservation Breeding specialist group umbrella (CBSG, part of the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of the IUCN). This gives us up to date knowledge on issues and the most effective use of funds.
