RSPCA event report BrisbaneCreated 20th Jun 2005 About a week ago the RSPCA rang me to invite AOP to join in their Celebration Day at the Stamford Hotel here in Brisbane on the 18th June.(last Saturday) I believe this invitation came about because we had contacted the RSPCA to ask if we could take part in their Million Paws Walk in May, which we did attend. So despite the short notice Kris (Membership Coordinator) and myself, with display board and little merchandise in tow, decided to take up the offer. It was a long day unloading the gear at 8.30 till 4.15, but we were surprised by the outcome. The people invited (about 150-175 persons) to this ticket event are of the older generation and are major supporters of the RSPCA and other animal causes. AOP made a total of $937, including 12 adoptions, one membership, small donations and the selling of merchandise. It was just a thought that it may be a good idea if other States rang their local RSPCA offices to see what events they may be organising and what AOP could get involved in. The RSPCA also provided lunch and morning and afternoon tea so it was a great day. Marion
